Nigel Speedy has been a non-exclusive surveyor since 1981 employed by various organisations, including Classification Societies, British, Scandinavian, German, Dutch, Belgian, Italian and Japanese Underwriters, P&I Associations, solicitors, and on behalf of various cargo interests.

All manner of marine surveys and inspections have been carried out on all types of vessels ranging from small pleasure craft up to VLCCs, including docking surveys, special surveys, cargo gear surveys, condition surveys, safety inspections and statutory surveys on behalf of various flag states, industrial inspections of a wide range of machinery and equipment at manufacturers' works, offshore surveys of buoys and mooring equipment, supervision of new building contracts, and surveys as under for various clients.
